Kevin Priest, DDS, MA, FAGD

Dr. Kevin Priest

Dr. Kevin Priest was born and raised in Ashland, OH. In 2001, he graduated from Ashland High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from John Carroll University in 2005. After graduation from John Carroll, he attended Case Western Reserve University where he earned a Master of Art degree in Bioethics. Following graduate school, Dr. Priest attended and graduated in 2010 from The Ohio State University with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. Upon graduation Dr. Priest was also presented with the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology Student of the Year Award during commencement.

After graduation from dental school, Dr. Priest received his commission from the United States Army as a captain in August of 2010. During that same year, he enrolled in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry 12-month program on Fort Campbell, KY. Following graduation from residency, he was assigned as the Brigade Dental Surgeon of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division on Fort Drum, NY.

From October 2011 through March of 2012, Dr. Priest deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he maintained dental wellness and readiness for the 3rd Brigade Combat Team as well as the 4th Kandak of the Afghan National Army. While deployed, he was responsible for providing 4,500 soldiers emergency and routine dental care. During his military career, Dr. Priest has been awarded the Army Commendation Medal (two oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and NATO Medal. He joined Dr. Spreng’s practice in 2015 and established Priest Dental, Inc in February of 2016.

Dr. Priest is a member of the American Dental Association, American Society of Dental Anesthesiology, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and obtained fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry in 2016 (FAGD). This prestigious honor involved amassing over 500 continuing education hours as well passing a written examination. He was only one of four dentists in Ohio achieving this award at the Academy of General Dentistry annual conference in 2016. In addition to this fellowship he also has completed an intensive externship in implant dentistry with the Midwest Implant Institute. He has certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as well as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and has his parenteral (intravenous or IV) sedation permit with the state of Ohio. His current interests are in sedation, surgery (to include extractions and implants), endodontics (root canals), and CAD/CAM prosthodontics (crowns, dentures and bridges). Dr. Priest is always looking to further his knowledge in the dental field by staying up to date with the most current and hot topics and usually attends 1-2 conferences per year to make sure the latest and greatest technology can be implemented in his practice.

When not in the dental office, Dr. Priest is at home with his wife Michelle, daughters Anna and Abigail as well as their dog Grayson. The Priests are avid Ohio State Buckeye fans and also enjoy the occasional round of golf. They have been married since November of 2010.

Evan MacDonald, DDS

Dr. Evan MacDonald first began his education at Mercy College of Detroit in 1981 with a bachelors degree in biology. After graduation he was accepted to Georgetown University and in 1985 graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Initially he began practicing dentistry in Birmingham, Michigan and then moved to Laurinburg, North Carolina. In 1998, Evan and his family moved to Ashland, Ohio. In 2001 he joined Michael Spreng’s practice (Now Priest Dental, Inc) Dr. MacDonald practices general dentistry and has an interest in endodontics (root canals). He attends multiple CE courses each year which is highlighted by the annual University of Michigan review course in endodontics. It is there he stays up to date with the latest technologies and advancements.

Dr. Elsie Hinz, DDS

Dr. Elsie Hinz was born and raised in Cleveland, OH. In 2005, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Kent State University. Following graduation, she enrolled in The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2010, which happened to be the same class as Dr. Priest. After dental school, Dr. Hinz received her commission into the United States Army as a captain and was stationed on Fort Campbell, Kentucky where she completed the Advanced Education in General Dentistry 12-month residency program.

Following residency, Dr. Hinz was assigned to an overseas Army post in Schweinfurt, Germany where she served as head of the Pediatric Dental Department, providing dental care to over 900 pediatric patients. After serving three years in that role, the Army opted to move her to Fort Eustis, Virginia, where she was named “Officer in Charge” or OIC of a large multi-specialty dental clinic. After satisfying her Army commitment, Dr. Hinz became the dental director for a community health center on the West Side of Cleveland where she provided consultation for the dental clinic construction and launch of the dental health program.

In addition to this role, she provided dental treatment and education to the underserved population of Cleveland.

Her specific interests are in digital CAD/CAM dentistry (single visit crowns) as well as prosthodontics. Simply put, Dr. Hinz enjoys giving patients their smiles back through technology and modern day dentistry! Dr. Hinz eagerly comes to the Priest Dental Team with enthusiasm and a vast educational background. She prides herself in conservatively treating every patient like they are family. She joins the Priest Dental team during an exciting time after the current office remodel which was completed in January 2019. Her attendance at multiple continuing education courses each year show her dedication and her willingness to treat everyone with the highest level of care possible. When she is not in the dental office, Dr. Hinz can be found spending time with her husband Nate and two children Owen and Natalie. They are dedicated Buckeye fans as well as fans of any Cleveland team.
